FAQs – Security

PongoPay takes the risk out of construction transactions for both tradespeople and homeowners by verifying every step of the transaction process and ensuring both parties are happy with the work before releasing funds. All parties are verified using bank-grade KYC checks

How tradespeople are protected:

  • PongoPay verifies the client has paid into the virtual safe deposit box before work starts, removing the risk of late payments or unpaid invoices.
  • PongoPay offers a Dispute Mediation Process to help resolve any disputes fairly and efficiently, meaning that you no longer have to deal with difficult clients alone.

How homeowners are protected:

  • PongoPay allows homeowners to keep up to date with a job’s progress and verify payments at each stage of the process.
  • Payments are processed by our CSSF Registered and FCA Authorised commercial partners MANGOPay and released in stages, only once the homeowner is happy with the work.

If you already have your own building contract you wish to use, we recommend you continue to use this as normal. If no contract has been agreed to outside of the app, the job will be protected under PongoPay’s optional service contract.

All PongoPay users must submit a photo of their driving license or passport during the sign-up process as part of our Know Your Customer (‘KYC’) checks. This ensures that users are who they say they are and helps to protect both Tradespeople and Homeowners from fraud.
