FAQs – Project Owners
PongoPay is a safe and easy way for project owners to pay for construction work:
- All PongoPay users are verified using bank grade KYC checks
- Your payment is securely processed and taken into our virtual ‘Safe Deposit Box’
- Payment is only released to the builder once you confirm the work is complete
The PongoPay app can also be used to monitor the work’s progress via our build updates feature so you can keep track of what’s happening.
Once your builder has created a job in PongoPay, you will receive an SMS invitation to accept the work. Follow the link in the SMS invite to download the PongoPay app, review the work proposal and pay via our in-app bank transfer function.

It is possible to pay by card however this will incur a 1.6% processing fee charged directly to the homeowner. As such, we strongly recommend that clients pay using our in-app bank transfer function.
All PongoPay users must submit key information as well as a photo of their driving license or passport during the sign-up process as part of our Know Your Customer (‘KYC’) checks.* This ensures that users are who they say they are and helps to protect both tradespeople and homeowners from fraud.
*The KYC check is a legal requirement for anti-money laundering and fraud prevention purposes.
